TSP Spices Review and Giveaway

I was delighted for the opportunity to try Tsp Spices.
I'm usually not real good at working with spices.
They graciously sent me the Organic Orange Zest and the
The way it was packaged and the recipes that came with it made it so easy to use the spices, even for me!!
When I got the spices they came in the cutest little tins. I can't help but think how cute these would make for gifts! Each tin had 12 individual 1 tsp. spice packets plus recipes!
You can also find recipes here at their site.
**
First I tried the Organic Orange Zest. This tin had 12 - 1 tsp. packets of Orange Zest spice. One of the recipes simply said to add it to your hot cereal. So as I was having oatmeal one morning, I added 1 packet ( which is 1 tsp.) to my oatmeal. I wasn't sure about it but, it was delicious! It added so much, and I loved the Orange taste!
**
The second tin they sent me was called the Organic Roast to Toast. It had 12 packets but there were 6 different spices in it. It included 3 Orange Zest, 2 Ancho Chili Pepper, 2 Coriander, 2 Rosemary, 2 Thyme, and 1 Allspice.
**
I wanted to make a recipe called Ancho Chile and orange rubbed chicken but my local butcher was out of whole chickens 2 weeks in a row. I got tired of waiting and decided to use the spices on boneless skinless chicken instead. All I did was combine 2 packets of organic ancho chile, 2 packets organic coriander, and 2 packets organic orange zest. Mixed and added about 2 Tablespoons of olive oil. This made it kinda pasty and I just rubbed it on the chicken. I let it marinate a couple days and grilled it up! It was REALLY good! My daughter kept wanting more. I feel confident that the other recipe would be even better!
****
Tsp Spices was founded by a couple of Southern girls who wandered north, as they say it!
I think they sum up their company with these words...
We promise you vibrant tastes with organic spices that are free of additives and fillers and packaged to preserve their freshness. We also make them easy on your storage system and pleasant to look at when they’re on your counter

Garden Adventure!

This is my FIRST garden!
Yep it's true, I've never had a garden before.
As I'm getting into this whole being frugel thing, I decided to give it a try!
We decided to start out small....Ha!!
It grew into a pretty big garden!
It's hard to see some of the plants,
but we've already planted everything but my melons.
Since I'm new at this, I decided to share some of the tips we've gotten so far and I'm hoping you guys can chime in and give us lots more tips!
Here's what we've found out so far...
Try not to laugh too hard at us!
**
1. End of April is normally too early to plant a garden in northern Indiana. I think we'll get lucky this year and be frost free!
**
2. 5 pounds of potatoes is a lot to plant in a garden. We've been told that in good years 2# can produce over 100# yikes!!!
**
3. A row of Zucchini (15 plants) will produce WAY TOO MUCH zucchini. 2-3 plants is more like a normal amount. opps 15!!!
**
4. Put Sevin on tomato plants right away. We lost 2 plants to cut worm the first 2 days. boo
**
5. Put Preen between rows to help cut down on weeds.
**
6. Best way to keep rabbits out is with a shotgun! (thanks Melissa)
**
7. Plant carrots right near the top of soil... not down 6 inches. I don't think we'll get carrots this year unless we replant them.
**
8. Plant your watermelons in with your corn -- space saver!
**
So that's what we've learned so far... Let me know your tips.
How do I get an awesome garden???

An Afternoon of FUN!!

Mushroom Hunting!
Here is my oldest boy (Chi 10) and oldest girl (Halee 8)
With Chi's only mushroom find. (I'll add that he found 1 more than me!!)
It's really hard to see. I put a box around it!
Here are the troops!
I think 3 grandchildren are missing from this picture. I was shocked that my almost 3 yr. old walked the entire time. Up hills and down, only asking to be held 1 time. I just did some distracting and away he went again running ahead!
They had a great time together, only problem was I don't think they bothered looking for mushrooms. They did however manage to step on a few!
So this is what we found, no we're not hiding any, this was it! I love mushrooms, only problem was when you split these between 7 adults and a bunch of kids you get ONE bite! But man was it a GREAT bite! I made it last as long as possible!
**
So do you love fried fresh mushrooms? Do you hunt for them?

**
Pour over the roast and potatoes. cover and cook on high for 4-5 hours or until roast is tender.

Spring Cleaning -- Outdoor area

This week at Beautiful2God we're cleaning our outdoor area.
Mine was crazy messy.
I got a head start and cleaned a little on Saturday.
Hey, I'm not failing another week!
These pics are of course before I cleaned! I will post after pics later in the week.

We had stuff setting everywhere from winter and of course the kids have to drag tons of toys up to this area! There are lots of leaves blown up against the house (they're hard to see in these pics, but they're there!). I feel confident I'll get this area DONE!!
